Accessing abortion care
Wherever you are in the UK, there are a range of organisations that directly provide or can help you access abortion care.
If access to abortion care is restricted or difficult to access in the country where you live, these organisations may be able to offer support and information:
Abortion aftercare
Many abortion providers have a 24 hour aftercare line. If you are worried about any aspect of your recovery, physical or mental, ring the non-urgent aftercare line given by your abortion provider:

Antenatal Screening Support
Abortion Doulas
Mental Health Crisis Support
ARC help parents and professionals through antenatal screening and its consequences. They provide non-directive information and support to parents before, during and after antenatal screening; when they are told their baby has an anomaly; when they are making difficult decisions about continuing with or ending a pregnancy, and when they are coping with complex and painful issues after making a decision, including bereavement.
They have a forum for peer support and a helpline (for parents and professionals) which is open Monday to Friday, 10am - 5.30pm. The number is 0207 713 7486.
Dopo provides 1-2-1 emotional support before, during and after abortion with a trained abortion doula. Their approach is holistic and inclusive and their aim is to ensure women, men, trans and non-binary individuals feel seen, safe and supported throughout their experience.
They also provide free, virtual drop-in abortion support groups on the first Tuesday of every month from 7pm - 8:30pm in collaboration with Sheffield Maternity Cooperative.
For a listening ear if you are feeling lonely, have thought about harming yourself, or if you are having suicidal thoughts call the Samaritans who are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Storytelling & sharing
Tell your story and read the stories shared by others.
2 Plus Abortions is a story sharing project to end the stigma of having more than one abortion. They also share stories of other highly stigmatized abortions: from people who’ve had abortions of twins, and people who’ve had abortions later in pregnancy. You can read the stories (they have a library of over 1000 stories) or share your own.
Religious pro-choice organisations
Faith Voices for Reproductive Justice (FVRJ) is an initiative started by people from different Christian denominations in Northern Ireland. They support faith communities of all religions to provide non-judgemental, all-options pastoral support to people with experiences of reproductive choices. FVRJ advocate publicly for free, safe, legal abortion access in Northern Ireland and an end to abortion stigma.

The International Network for the Reduction of Abortion Discrimination and Stigma is a global network of advocates, healthcare providers and researchers who address abortion stigma and its negative outcomes through their work and campaigns.
They have a number of free tools, webinars and resources on their website.
Abortion, with love podcast.
Created and hosted by Camila Ochoa Mendoza, Abortion, with love is dedicated to reclaiming and reaffirming the way we talk about abortions. Guests are international and a variety of topics are covered including, trans-inclusive abortion care, the importance of storytelling, increasing accessibility in restrictive settings, education and the importance of emotional support.

A.J Lowik is a researcher, lecturer and inclusion consultant whose work focuses on trans people’s lives and health. In 2018 they were asked to create a resource for abortion providers on how to be trans-inclusive. This useful resource can be found free to download on their website.
