Exploring Values and Practice Workshop for
Healthcare Providers and Students
Duration: from half day – full day| Delivery: in person or online | Number of participants: up to 24 per session | Price: from £750 | Recommended for: Healthcare providers and healthcare students.
Values play a huge role in how people make decisions and act on them. The values of healthcare staff can affect how patients receive care.
In this workshop you will learn how beliefs and attitudes impact how we act towards patients and colleagues and how we feel about our work. This workshop challenges abortion myths and gives participants time to understand their own values and resolve values conflicts. This workshop will encourage your team to explore their assumptions about abortion and examine their role in assuring safe access to abortion care.
This workshop uses the Abortion Values Clarification for Action and Transformation (VCAT) method. The workshop is led by Abortion Talk facilitators who are trained in Abortion VCAT workshop delivery. It’s made for anyone working in healthcare. It is suitable for both clinical and non-clinical team members with mixed knowledge and views of abortion.
What is the Abortion VCAT Method?
VCAT stands for Values Clarification for Action and Transformation. The Abortion VCAT method of training has been developed by IPAS, using theories and techniques of values clarification (VC). The World Health Organization recommends VC training for abortion providers. This is due to the impact that stigmatising beliefs and behaviours have on people accessing care. VCAT workshops look at how abortion myths and stigma stop people from getting the care and support they need.
Skilled facilitators are needed to deliver these kinds of workshops. Our facilitators are trained in IPAS’ Abortion VCAT method.
